Facebook takes customer interaction to a new level by introducing a Customer Chat plug-in. Businesses can install this plug-in on their website and integrate Facebook Messenger in it. At the moment, this new feature is in closed beta and thus only available to a few businesses that are testing it but can be used by everyone in the near future.

With more than a billion users on Facebook Messenger, Facebook’s mission is to make its platform more business-friendly. Back in April, Facebook introduced a Discover tab, Messenger Ads and also improved its chatbot function. This was the first step towards a better business-customer relationship. The newest feature is no exception. Facebook takes customer interaction to a new level by introducing a Customer Chat plug-in. Businesses can install this plug-in on their website and integrate Facebook Messenger in it.

Benefits of the Facebook Messenger plug-in on websites

You might think yes that sounds super cool but how can I as a marketer and/or advertiser actually benefit from it?

First of all, via the Facebook Messenger plug-in, you will make it easier for your customers and prospects to get in touch with you. They no longer have to open up Facebook to chat with you. Instead, they can do it when they are on your website.

Secondly, conversations are made easier because they can be continued across various platforms or websites. So if you started a conversation via Facebook, you can continue that same conversation via your website. This is also useful for customers themselves. Most of the people nowadays do everything on mobile. Being able to use their mobile when visiting your website makes it easier for them to talk you.

Moreover, the plug-in supports Facebook Messenger features such as payments and rich media. This makes it even easier to close the sales circle.

Furthermore, you can make sure to have persistent conversions. You can keep a record of all your interactions, making sure you don’t lose track of the original request or complaint you got from a customer or prospect.

Finally, you can use the new plug-in for sales, customer service or whatever you feel live chat could contribute to your business and service.

Next steps of the new Facebook Messenger plug-in

At the moment, this new feature is in closed beta and thus only available to a few businesses that are testing it such as KLM. If you are interested you can register yourself on the waiting list on Facebook’s website. This way you will be the first one to get notified when the Messenger customer chat plugin is available for your site.
